BMW has officially unveiled the Vision BMW Alpina Concept, signaling a dramatic new direction for the historic Alpina marque as it transitions into a fully integrated luxury sub-brand within the BMW Group. The concept debuted at the prestigious Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este in Italy and previews a new generation of ultra-premium vehicles positioned between flagship BMW models and Rolls-Royce automobiles.
For decades, Alpina operated independently, building highly refined and performance-oriented versions of BMW cars. After BMW acquired the rights to the Alpina brand in 2022, the transition became official in 2026. Now, BMW is reshaping Alpina into a dedicated luxury performance division focused less on track aggression and more on effortless high-speed touring, handcrafted comfort, and understated prestige.

The Vision BMW Alpina Concept reflects that philosophy perfectly. The sleek four-seat grand tourer features a long coupe silhouette, shark-nose front fascia, minimalist surfacing, and signature Alpina styling cues such as multi-spoke wheels and subtle deco lines. At over 5.2 meters long, the car projects the presence of a luxury limousine while maintaining the elegance of a grand touring coupe.
Inside, BMW has pushed Alpina toward a far more exclusive experience. The cabin combines premium leather, crystal detailing, yacht-inspired rear seating, and bespoke craftsmanship intended to rival luxury rivals such as Bentley and Mercedes-Maybach. BMW executives describe the brand’s mission as “speed, not sport,” emphasizing comfort, serenity, and long-distance capability over racetrack performance.
Unlike many modern luxury concepts focused entirely on electrification, the Vision BMW Alpina retains a powerful V8 engine. BMW says the architecture can support electrified drivetrains in the future, but the company deliberately chose a traditional grand touring powertrain to preserve Alpina’s identity of smooth, effortless performance.

BMW has confirmed that the first production Alpina models under the new structure will arrive in 2027, beginning with a luxury sedan based on the BMW 7 Series, followed by an X7-derived SUV. These vehicles are expected to target affluent buyers looking for exclusivity beyond conventional BMW offerings without stepping fully into the ultra-luxury territory occupied by Rolls-Royce.
The launch also represents BMW’s broader strategy to expand deeper into the high-end luxury segment, where brands like Bentley, Range Rover, and Mercedes-Maybach have seen growing demand. Industry analysts view Alpina as BMW’s answer to that market gap — a brand offering bespoke luxury with a more discreet and driver-focused personality than traditional chauffeur-oriented limousines.
Reaction from enthusiasts has largely been positive. Many longtime Alpina fans appreciate that BMW appears committed to preserving the brand’s heritage rather than reducing it to a simple trim package. Online discussions have praised the concept’s elegant styling, V8 powertrain, and restrained luxury approach.
With the Vision BMW Alpina Concept, BMW is not merely reviving a famous nameplate — it is creating an entirely new luxury identity designed to bridge the space between premium performance and ultra-luxury motoring.
